It has been months since the two top heavyweight fighters, Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua faced each other for the second time after Joshua’s loss in the first match. Even though the Englishman showed significant improvement from the first fight, he still appeared to fall short in comparison to Usyk’s speed and technique. Until their first fight, Joshua was a dominant force in his division and even unified three titles. Oleksandr Usyk, on the other hand, had only had a couple of fights in the heavyweight division, which made Joshua’s loss in the first fight that more upsetting.

Joshua’s only losses have only come from Andy Ruiz Jr. And Oleksandr Usyk, but he was at least able to get his revenge on Ruiz Jr. At that time, Usyk dropped a statement that dropped the jaws of the boxing world. Boxing reporter Michael Benson recently shared Usyk’s astonishing words once again on his Twitter.

Oleksandr Usyk on not knocking out Anthony Joshua

Michael Benson once again shared Usyk’s shocking words after defeating Anthony Joshua. Despite the one-sided dominance he showed in the ring throughout the match, Usyk was unable to drop Anthony Joshua to the canvas. The duo made it to the 12th round, after which Joshua lost the fight via unanimous decision. At that time, the bell rang 5 seconds earlier, causing intense controversy.

Michael Benson shared what Oleksandr Usyk said after the fight regarding him, almost knocking out the English boxer. Usyk said, “Why are you so bloodthirsty? There is victory, everything is fine. Why is it necessary for a person to fall?

Usyk claimed that he didn’t KO Joshua because of his family. Usyk said, “He has a mother and father. This is a big chunk of health if a person falls. I’m not for that“. Benson once again shared this reasoning by Usyk that still blows the fan’s mind.

Usyk’s words showcase the mentality of a boxer who wishes to secure his status as a dominant fighter. A fight between two behemoths in the form of Usyk and Tyson Fury was on the cards, but unfortunately, it didn’t materialize. A victory over Fury would have solidified Usyk’s legacy, so it would have been understandable if the turn of events disappointed the Russian boxer, but Usyk conveyed a different sentiment, contrary to expectations.

Usyk is happy that the fight against Tyson Fury fell apart

Usyk stated that he was happy that the fight was not happening as he had trained for three months straight and spent most of his time away from home. Now he gets to spend time with his children. But the fans were furious when Usyk revealed the reason as to why the Tyson Fury fight fell through.

Usyk is now focused on his three sanctioning body obligations, including his first mandatory defense against WBA ‘regular’ champion Daniel Dubois. Additionally, the WBO’s mandatory challenger is currently interim-champion Joe Joyce, with potentially the IBF’s top man Filip Hrgovic as his next mandatory defense.
