Eddie Hearn and Oscar De La Hoya are at it again. The two promoters don’t let an opportunity slip to throw a jibe at each other. So, when Regis Prograis dropped the fight against Jack Catterall, it gave the American promoter to question Hearn, 45, and his credentials as a promoter. But this time, the latter went on and issued an explosive clapback.

Prograis, managed and promoted by Matchroom Boxing, suffered a crushing defeat to Catterall, dismantling his hopes of securing a title fight next. He has now gone 0-2 in his last two fights, including his loss against Devin Haney, where he lost his WBC gold strap. This compelled De La Hoya, 51, to take to his X handle and ridicule Hearn’s matchmaking skills and make claims about Matchroom Boxing ruining his career. He wrote, “I’m sorry Regis @MatchroomBoxing ruined your career. With the worst matchmaking in the business.”

This didn’t sit well with Hearn, 45, who addressed these statements in the post-fight conference. He said, “He got so much pain in his heart. My thoughts and feelings are with him every single day. And I hope, that one day he can find some happiness in his life… And Oscar De La Hoya is the biggest bel*end I have ever met in my life.”

The Matchroom Boxing lynchpin continued, “If he don’t respect fighters for trying to be great, because that’s what he says he was already trying to do. Then the guy is the saltiest man on the earth. And he has so much pain inside his heart, I hope one day, as I said, Oscar De La Hoya can finally find peace and happiness in his life.”

The Golden Boy Promotions’ head honcho had also asserted that Hearn couldn’t build a fighter’s career, regarding Anthony Joshua‘s defeat to Daniel Dubois. However, that’s a criticism Hearn doesn’t agree with. The London native not only shielded Prograis but also pointed out how the lightweight boxer star had done great under his banner.

Eddie Hearn demands respect for Regis Prograis

Hearn explained the situation in the same presser, as he noted how they had helped ‘Rougarou’ headline against Danielito Zorrilla in New Orleans. He also laid down that Prograis had made “absolute fortune,” and soon, a mega fight with Haney followed. The British promoter said, “Then he had the mega fight with Devin Haney. Made an absolute fortune.”

“And then, purely down to Regis Prograis, and I think he deserve so much respect for this. He tried to roll the dice in the UK against Jack Catterall,” Hearn added. But Prograis has a tall task on his hands now. After succumbing to his second loss, he might have to reflect on his career and make a call. Meanwhile, Catterall is on the cusp of a title shot with his 4-win streak.
