“He’s Offered Somebody Else the Same Thing”: Days After Frank Martin Fiasco, Devin Haney Calls Out Shakur Stevenson for Turning Down His Controversial Fight Offer

In a series of verbal jabs between the two fighters, Devin Haney has thrown in another argument. Shakur Stevenson‘s 75-25 offer to Frank Martin favoring Stevenson is a new topic for discussion.
The purse-split dispute where Haney offered 25% to Stevenson resulted in a total rejection from the former WBO Featherweight champion. Stevenson had later made the same offer to Frank Martin for the Lightweight title, which, in a similar fashion, got canceled as well. Haney has now drawn parallels between the two and aimed his jab at Stevenson.

Stevenson has since long been waiting to get in the ring with Haney, but the proposed offer was beneath what the fighter could agree on. Haney now points out “He should’ve took the money that I offered him. He’s offered somebody else the same thing, right? Didn’t he offer somebody the same thing I offered him? Yes or no?”

Though the fight has been canceled, both parties continue to release clips of the other on their social media further intensifying the fight that is on outside the rings. Stevenson leaked a clip of Bill Haney, Devin Haney’s trainer and father discussing sparring and seemingly admitting to Stevenson being a threat to his son. In response, the senior Haney leaked a clip of both the boxers sparring where Stevenson says he is tired.

How did Frank Martin get dragged into the fiasco?
Stevenson offered Frank Martin a 75-25 split in the former’s favor. Unhappy with the deal, Martin called off the fight and a Twitter war started between the two as well. A deleted post by the ‘Fearless’ claimed Martin had asked for a 50-50 split. Martin refuted asking for a 50-50 split and expressed his eagerness for the fight just as much as the fans. Stevenson further accused him of changing his mind once he knew all the details of the fight.

Fans, however, believe the Haney-Stevenson split to be unfair. Stevenson, a former division champ in two categories, cannot be compared to a fighter, Martin in this case who has not been in any championship according to them. Some believe Haney is trying to duck Stevenson by proposing such splits.
Haney has now made up his mind to fight the Light Welterweight champion, Regis Prograis. We expect the fight to take place in December. Fans are eager to witness the upcoming fight after multiple canceled ones. Is Haney really trying to duck the double-division champion or is his proposal fair? Let us know your thoughts below.
