Boxing is a sport for the legends. Each time a fighter enters the ring, he leaves a mark on the sport. But when a phenomenon like Curmel Moton does the same, he shifts the entire paradigm of the boxing realm. At least that is what he did. When he emerged victorious against Ezequiel Flores in his maiden pro-fight, the world knew what he held in his mettle.

On the 30th of September, the 17-year-old fighter shook the world with his scathing first-round stoppage. His prowess was so impressive that fighters older than him sought inspiration from him. One of them is the Youtuber-turned-boxer, Jarvis. In a recent revelation, the fighter spoke vividly about his experience from the training sessions he undertook alongside the young Moton.

In a conversation with the boxing insider portal, Boxing Social, the fighter opened up about how impressed he was with Moton’s dedication to the sport. The two fighters trained at the same gym, Mayweather Boxing Club, and have on multiple occasions been seen sparing each other.

Elaborating about the sessions, Jarvis noted, “You know I’ve sparred him countless times, and he’s just, he’s a different breed honestly. He’s going to be a world champion one day. And yeah, it’s crazy to be a part of that journey and to see him rise going from amateur to now professional.” Moton has amassed an intimidating amateur record of 156-7.

Jarvis further interpreted the pride he feels when he sees the young boxer in the gym. He detailed how Moton is one of the earliest to arrive at the training sessions, and mostly the last to leave. He said, “Curmel inspires me to you know keep training hard. I see him in the gym, everyday when I get in there. He’ll already be training when I get in there. When I’m done, he’s still training there. He’s got whole different work ethic than anyone I know at that gym.”

Every time a visual of Curmel Moton emerges on the internet, the world is quick to see him in the shadows of his mentor, Floyd Mayweather. ‘Money’ took him under his wings. He prepared him for the big sharks with all the expertise he held at his helm.
