The boxing ring will echo again those jabs that once ruled an era. Come December 9th, Floyd Mayweather will possibly undertake an exhibition fight against the former four-division world champion, Mikey Garcia. The Showtime PPV is a stellar medium to familiarise an entire generation of boxing enthusiasts who have probably never witnessed the boxing acumen of Mayweather.
The undercard, however, is reported to be headlined by Keith Thurman against Danny Garcia. While the fight details still remain under wraps and in discussion, if the fight does take place on the 9th of December, it will clash against the much-hyped Devin Haney vs. Regis Prograis championship fight. The news of ‘Money’ Mayweather’s return to the ring might have excited fans, but a certain sect still remains unfazed.

While the news of his exhibition bout might have raised some levels of excitement among fans, recent developments, and the fighter’s political stance, seem to have invited some critics his way. Recently, when Hamas launched its missiles at Israel, wreaking havoc on the civilians there, ‘Money’ was one among the first to send help. On his private jet, along with essential supplies, he sent some useful gear too. While this got him some appreciation, few fans were not happy. One said, “Yeah he needs to recoup the money he’s spending in occupied Palestine.”
While standing in solidarity with the Jews of Israel, the fighter also strongly condemned the attack by Hamas. But again, fans were not happy with him with one saying, “He should go fight in Israel he loves them so much… wasteman.” He had earlier clarified that he does not equate the acts of the Hamas to the people of Palestine.

Another user leveled up the brutality against the legendary fighter. So much so that they stated that hardly anyone cares about Mayweather anymore. They said, “Ye nobody cares about Floyd no more. Won’t sell 300 tickets.”
Following this, another fan commended him mildly for taking the new fight. They said, “Not as bad as I would have expected at this stage for Floyd.”
Yet, the comment section was filled to the brim with unsatisfied enthusiasts. To represent the entire mood of it all, one user wrote, “Should just stay retired. Man’s boring.”

As we await confirmation regarding Mayweather’s fight against Mikey Garcia, it remains to be seen how much of a good shape Mayweather will be in. In his last few fights, the veteran seemed slower compared to his earlier days. If that continues, 35-year-old Mikey Garcia could end up hurting Mayweather. However, Mayweather is someone who is known for his impeccable defense, therefore, he just might be able to evade the oncoming punches successfully.
