Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has been quite vocal about the payments for his fights. The ‘Bronze Bomber’ recently returned to boxing following a year-long hiatus from the sport after his devastating loss to WBC champion Tyson Fury. While Wilder might not be the most knowledgeable about the business aspects of boxing, he certainly feels there is something wrong with the issue of fighter pay.

Deontay Wilder makes a bold claim about fighter pay
Wilder stated that fighters getting paid months after fights was something that needs to change. According to him, if a fighter fights on a card, his revenue share should be given to him or her right after the fight and not three to four months after. This way there will be more transparency between promoters and fighters, growing the sport overall.
“Another thing we gotta change about these fighters about getting this money. Stop getting the money when it’s over. You gotta pay me after the time of fight is over with waiting and all this but then in business after the job is done you want your money. You ain’t wanna wait no month or two weeks or three weeks. We need it now,” he said.
