“He’s Drinking a Little Bit More Now”: David Benavidez’s Father Didn’t Hold Back While Shredding Canelo Alvarez Into Pieces

David Benavidez is eyeing a bout against Canelo Alvarez since his fight against Caleb Plant. The 26-year-old super-middleweight contender is hungry for glory. And is leaving no stone unturned to get to the current undisputed champion. And, it seems like David Benavidez’s father is already confident about his son’s potential  bout against the ‘Cinnamon.’ Recently, Jose Benavidez, Sr; took numerous digs at Canelo Alvarez and discussed why his side has the upper hand if they were to fight Alvarez. This fight between two Mexicans will be a matchup one can’t miss.

In a recent interview, Jose Benavidez Sr discussed the potential bout between his son David Benavidez and the undisputed champion. He further talked about why he thinks Benavidez will win if he fights Canelo Alvarez.

Benavidez Sr believes Alvarez is “not there in boxing anymore.”

In an interview with FightHype, Jose Benavidez Sr opened up about the potential upcoming bout between Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez. And Benavidez Sr did not stop at that. He further took some personal jabs at Alvarez. And made some bold claims about the undisputed champion.

Benavidez Sr, “We are proving ourselves. And we need to prove ourselves. There’s no easy fight. Different styles.” He further claimed that Benavidez would beat Alvarez when they meet inside the ring.

He added, “Right now, David beats Canelo Alvarez.” After this bold claim by the boxing coach, Benavidez Sr appreciated Alvarez’s hard work and dedication he has put into the sport. Benavidez Sr said, “Canelo Alvarez has been fighting since he was sixteen years old. He has a lot of miles and fought a lot of people. He has put so many miles in his training camps.”

Furthermore, the boxing coach took jabs at the current practices of the ‘Cinnamon.’ And raised some crucial questions. He said, “Right now, he’s drinking a little bit more now. He’s playing golf. He has a lot of businesses. “

Then Benavidez Sr made an unexpected claim about him. He said, “He’s not there in boxing anymore.”
