“He’s No Floyd Mayweather”: Boxing World Erupts as Claressa Shields Makes Bold Shakur Stevenson Comparison

Floyd Mayweather is a name that is virtually associated with boxing. Mayweather has managed to make a huge name for himself owing to his techniques and skills for outclassing other boxers of his era. The saying, ‘there are levels to this’ applies to Mayweather who repeatedly showed how high his level was compared to his opponents. While Shakur Stevenson is also a former world champion in two weight classes, he appears to still have some room for improvement.

However, it seems that to world champion Claressa Shields, Shakur Stevenson holds the same level as Floyd Mayweather. Recently, Claressa Shields compared Stevenson with Mayweather. This caused a wide range of reactions from the fans. Some of them agreed with her statement, while others chose to show their disagreement toward her statement. It is important to note that this is not the first time Shields has praised Stevenson. Previously, she claimed that Stevenson is the next Floyd Mayweather. Most recently, fans criticized Shields on her choice of opponent for her next fight. 

Claressa Shields’ bold comparison: Shakur Stevenson vs. Floyd Mayweather

The boxing world is abuzz with the recent comparison made by Claressa Shields of Shakur Stevenson to Floyd Mayweather. Fans have taken to social media to express their opinions on this bold comparison.

One fan, Jo Joe, took issue with the comparison. He pointed out that Stevenson is yet to beat Gervonta Davis, one of the top fighters in the sport before being compared to Mayweather.

Meanwhile, headblackman argued that Stevenson is actually better than Mayweather was at his age. He claimed that Stevenson has the potential to get even better.

Tenny, on the other hand, expressed frustration with the comparison, insisting that Mayweather has ‘no peers’ in the sport and that Stevenson simply cannot compare to him.

Mayor Of Kingstown was also against the comparison, saying that Stevenson is on his own path and should not be compared to Mayweather.

Finally, Raymond Jackson Jr. acknowledged that Stevenson is the closest thing to Mayweather that the boxing world has seen, but praised Mayweather as a magician in the ring and a one-of-a-kind fighter.

Despite the mixed reactions, some fans like Cameron McCamey were optimistic about Stevenson’s future, predicting that he will become something even better than Mayweather.
