Canelo Alvarez is only a few days away from locking horns with Dmitry Bivol. Alvarez will head towards conquering Bivol’s WBA world title inside the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas. The event has been scheduled for twelve 3-minute rounds. However, ahead of the Alvarez vs. Bivol showdown, in the recent past, there has been an outburst of talks concerning Alvarez and UFC star Kamaru Usman.
News is Usman and his team want a crossover fight between Alvarez and the former. Surprisingly, Ali Abdelaziz, who is Usman’s current manager, has even taken the matter to Twitter and called out the Mexican phenom. Recently, Fight Hub TV got along with journalist Ariel Helwani and asked the latter about his thoughts on Abdelaziz’s comments about Canelo.

“Clown comment. First of all, with all due respect, like how dare you disrespect Dmitry Bivol? Like, Dmitry Bivol versus Kamaru Usman isn’t necessarily a fair fight. Come on now. We know what they’re trying to do there. Kamaru Usman is the number one pound-for-pound fighter in mixed martial arts. He’s incredible. Don’t devalue yourself if you’re trying to get this fight.”
To speak the truth, Dmitry Bivol is a potential contender. And in a boxing match, he can certainly put Usman under serious test.
What disrespect is Ariel Helwani talking about?
Recently, Usman’s manager, Abdelaziz, took to Twitter and called Canelo Alvarez a chicken.
@Canelo is an absolute chicken, he is fighting guys with 5000 followers on Instagram, these guys will never do nothing for his legacy. Now I understand why he doesn’t wanna lose to someone like @USMAN84kg this is chicken style, no risk – no reward.

Ariel Helwani made one kind of response to that.
“Get the fight, but don’t come across like a jack## because you’re letting your manager do the talking for you. Kamaru Usman is incredible. He’s amazing, he’s number one. He’s undefeated in the UFC. He’s beaten everyone. He’s beaten them twice, Colby, Masvidal – all these guys.”

“But all he’s just trying to get a fight for his client and he’s doing it in a very poor way, in an embarrassing way. And look what happened; he got dunked on by Canelo,” he added during his interaction with Fight Hub TV.
As it seems, Ariel Helwani is not happy with the comments made by Usman’s manager.

In the same vein with Helwani, it is quite hard to agree with what Abdelaziz says. Alvarez has been in the sport for more than a decade. He has fought fighters such as Gennady Golovkin and Floyd Mayweather. Certainly, there’s something to look at in Alvarez’s resume.
The back-and-forth banter of Canelo Alvarez and Kamaru Usman on Twitter
Kamaru Usman, who is the no. 1 pound-for-pound UFC fighter and the current UFC welterweight champion, has frequently poked the Mexican phenom on Twitter.
Let’s just all relax… before somebody gets hurt 😉 https://t.co/N7V75t4DSA

Alvarez reacted in his own way to Abdelaziz’s comment. However, Usman had something more to say. He wrote, “Let’s just all relax… before somebody gets hurt.”
In the cage or the ring I’m willing find out in both… Are you? 👊🏿 https://t.co/UcLcmKkF83
— KAMARU USMAN (@USMAN84kg) April 27, 2022
In addition, Usman even told Alvarez that he is willing to fight the latter irrespective of the surrounding.
But Usman did not stop there. Although Alvarez made it clear that he is not looking to fight Usman, the UFC star kept pushing.
Enough said… you don’t want that smoke in a real fight. I hear you! Good luck champ 👊🏿 https://t.co/YC3765gkRG

Of course, a fight against Canelo Alvarez would generate a significant pay-per-view. In addition, a fight against Alvarez would strengthen Usman’s resume. However, Alvarez seems to feel otherwise. Consequently, his words express the same feeling. Hence, it is yet to be clear whether the two will ever fight.
