In Ring magazine‘s list of top pound-for-pound fighters in the year 2008, Mayweather fared the highest. When Michael Benson shared this piece of history on his X account, fans had a few mixed reactions to it.

Going by Ring magazine’s evaluation of the top ten pound-for-pound boxers, Mayweather steals the top spot while Manny Pacquiao stands second. These positions slightly take fans aback. Some find it justified while some believe Pacquiao deserved the first position.

“Helluva fighter… helluva fighter. He’s his own boss too, made smart investments. Kept all his faculties. I take my hat off to him.” One fan lauded Mayweather for his approach to both boxing and his business.

“How was Floyd over pac man on a pound for pound list ??” questioned another.

“Pacquiao Vs Duran Would’ve been the greatest fight ever if they were in the same era” One fan dreamt of a fight between Pacquiao and Roberto Duran.

“Where’s Eubank Jr?” Another fan believed Chris Eubank Jr. should have also made the top ten list.

“Floyd saw Manny rising up those p4p ratings and then ducked him for the next 7 years, finally agreeing to fight him only after he’d been brutally knocked out by Marquez.” another fan accused Mayweather of ducking Pacquiao till he was beaten by Juan Manuel Márquez.

Though the two fighters are now retired, their impact on the world of boxing has not faded away. ‘Money’ Mayweather, however, has continued to get down in the ring with his exhibition fights. Recently, he has confirmed a rematch with one of his old opponents.
