De La Hoya is hard at work to make a fight for Ryan Garcia

Transitioning from his days of boxing, De La Hoya is now a reputable boxing promoter. However, the new job didn’t come without its challenges. First, in a sudden turn of events, ‘KingRy’ lost his chance at a fight against Devin Haney. Just when it seemed like he would face Romero next, that opportunity also slipped away when the latter moved to face Issac Cruz.

De La Hoya refuted claims that a deal with Rolly Romero was close, clarifying the situation surrounding Ryan Garcia’s next fight. Despite Garcia’s surprise, De La Hoya revealed that negotiations hadn’t progressed. He stated, “I think Rollies fighting Cruz is a great appetizer for what’s to come for Ryan. You know, but the winner of that fight can actually get into the sweepstakes, the Ryan sweepstakes.”
