Ahead of his fight with Chris Eubank Jr. last year, Conor Benn tested positive for Clomifene in his VADA drug test. This discovery immediately led to the cancellation of the fight and the removal of Conor Benn from world rankings. Recently, following their investigation, the WBC declared that they would reinstate Benn into their welterweight world rankings. After the statement by WBC, Conor Benn joined Piers Morgan for an interview.

Speaking to Morgan, Benn admitted that he was suicidal after he tested positive for Clomifene and was removed from the world rankings. According to Benn, he barely believed he would make it. On being asked what it felt to be branded a cheat, Benn said, “Yes, it has hurt me. I didn’t think I was going to make it through this period.” “For something I ain’t even done. It’s hard because I feel like I was on death row for something I ain’t even done,” added Benn.

Conor Benn who fears his image was ruined declared his innocence
In his interaction with Piers Morgan, Benn declared he is innocent. In addition, he stated that for somebody else’s incompetence, his image was at stake. While he addressed himself as a human who made mistakes in his personal life, Benn disclosed he never meant to cheat. “It was a shame for something I ain’t even done. You know if I had done something wrong, I’m human. I’ll raise my hands to it, I made a mistake, whatever it is. Never this,” said Conor Benn.

“And you know, I felt like seven years of hard work and sacrifice and leaving my family and the image I maintained was just ruined at somebody else’s incompetence,” said Benn, who was recently on the news regarding a potential fight with Manny Pacquiao. Benn further revealed that he was taking it day by day. In fact, the undefeated British boxer with a 66.67% KO rate, felt he would not see another day. “It upsets me now because I don’t know how I got so bad. I got in a really bad way… I am innocent,” Benn concluded.
