Devin Haney and Regis Prograis are barely two days away from their monumental square-up. For the young boxer, born in San Francisco, it’s the first bout in a new division. He had to vacate the WBC lightweight belt to pursue the fight. Shakur Stevenson, who defeated Edwin De Los Santos last month, became the title holder. Later, Haney decided to vacate the remaining belts that constituted his unified title. Hence, it’s a big gamble for ‘The Dream’, whose ambitions soar sky high. On the other hand, for Prograis, it’s a second title defense.
However, in young Haney, he faces a resolute opponent. He could also be the biggest PPV draw that the 34-year-old Southpaw must have come across in his decade-long career. Hence, a win could propel him to skyscraping paychecks. Ahead of their bout, the two finally met for their first face-off of the fight week. There were reporters and photographers. But there was no sign of a stage, mikes, or other paraphernalia associated with such events. Instead, it was the historic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco that added gravity and grandeur as the two boxers saw each other. To most fans and followers, the change was a welcome surprise.

Oh! What a Sight!: Devin Haney and Regis Prograis Face-off
In the first match between two of the biggest names in the light welterweight division, it was the background that became the protagonist. But still, that didn’t prevent some from taking potshots at the boxer they wanted to see lose.
This user was so mesmerized by the scenery. It was simply amazing: “I gotta admit that scenery is dope as f*ck.” The next user also couldn’t stop himself from appreciating the unique face-off with the Golden Gate Bridge, overlooking: “Super cool doing the face-off in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. Let’s go!!”
But this follower found it difficult to understand why the boxers would pick such a picturesque site to prove themselves strong and rugged: “Why [do] they pick such a romantic spot to be tough?“
Congratulating both Haney and Prograis for setting up a fantastic bout, the following user, who’s never followed Devin Haney, appears certain that ‘The Dream’ will win: “Good fight! Never been a Haney fan! But he wins! No denying! He’s a top P4P! Fighter! His resume will say it!” But then a Prograis fan felt that ‘Rougarou’ would go beyond Vasyl Lomachenko to bring the real Devin Haney into the open: “I hope Prograis exposes this guy even more than Loma did.“
From the clip, it appears that the face-off, thankfully, went uneventfully.

The 140-pound Division Ringtones
The light welterweight division, with some of the biggest names in boxing, offers an exciting mix for the fans. With Teofimo Lopez holding the WBO and The Ring belts, the division has Rolando Romero as the current WBA champion, and Subriel Matias defended his IBF title successfully last week. Additionally, with his recent win, Ryan Garcia has also upped his game. But then there are talks that Devin Haney, who is reportedly the favorite to win on Saturday, might even make a move to the welterweight division.
