Back in 2022, Shakur Stevenson delivered a one-sided masterclass, dismantling Oscar Valdez in a unanimous decision victory. The hostile Vegas crowd couldn’t rattle Stevenson, who dominated from the opening bell. A sixth-round knockdown cemented his control, leaving Valdez grasping at straws. This win dethroned Valdez, handing him his first professional loss and also his WBC world super-featherweight title. But Stevenson’s night didn’t end there.
In a heartwarming post-fight surprise, he shocked everyone by dropping down to one knee and proposing to his longtime girlfriend, rapper Young Lyric. With a dazzling ring and a daughter, Leilani Asha Stevenson, already tying them together, the crowd erupted in cheers as Lyric said “Yes!” After this, Lyric took a hiatus from her music career and revealed details of her personal life following her engagement in one of the interviews.

Lyric explained, “Yes, I did when I had a baby because it was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. Having a baby and stuff and trying to do music and all of that. So it was like, yeah, I did take a little break and I’m still like just eating back into it right now.” Moreover, she also hinted at the possibility of a second child as she mentioned that it’d be easier to raise her second-born because she’d have experience on her side.
