Ahead of the bout on September 30th, at the press conference, Canelo Alvarez declared he was “happy” to face Jermell Charlo. Besides promising everyone “a really good fight” with Charlo, the Mexican boxer admitted that he “didn’t look good” in his last two fights. However, the Undisputed Super Middleweight champion assured his fans that he would exhibit “something different” in his upcoming fight.

On the other hand, Jermell Charlo hoped that people would appreciate his skills after his bout with Alvarez. Apart from promising a “hell of a show,” the Undisputed Super Welterweight champion desired to be known as the great. In this context, Charlo even claimed that he would demonstrate laudable punching power and impressive lateral movements in the ring. While Charlo and Canelo hope to be appreciated, the WBC recently introduced a new and special belt to honor the winner of the fight.

WBC’s “circus” move ahead of Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo

When Canelo Alvarez fought John Ryder in May this year, the WBC introduced a special “Puebla-Jalisco” belt. Now that the Mexican phenom is squaring off against Charlo, WBC  inaugurated the new “Puebla” belt. On this occasion, as talkSPORT correspondent Michael Benson shared the news, several fans took to X and reacted.

According to one fan, the mentioned is the wrong belt for Charlo vs. Alvarez. In their opinion, given the fights Canelo has avoided, the belt should metaphorically contain images of a cherry and a duck.

As per another, it is WBC’s way of handing Canelo yet another “memento“.

Meanwhile, one declared boxing to be a joke.

On the other hand, one stated that WBC demolished “the value of their normal belt with all these variations”.
