How often do two bitter rivals end up becoming close buddies? The answer is not often unless they are in the sport of boxing! Echoing the same sentiment, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield have settled their differences over the years after the famous, nay, infamous bite-fight incident. In a recent twist, Holyfield even reacted to Tyson’s reference to the incident in a social media post. 

What’s more, not just Holyfield but also Tyson’s pupil of sorts, Francis Ngannou, found the post and expressed his thoughts. Earlier today, the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ turned to Instagram to share an image of himself with Holyfield that saw the whole situation unfold. 

Mike Tyson claims they have come a long way!

Sharing the picture with Holyfield, Tyson captioned the post, “We’ve come a long way since the bite fight.” It’s worth mentioning that the bite fight incident happened on the fateful night of 28 June 1997. The pair were competing in their rematch, and a frustrated Tyson resorted to taking a chunk out of Holyfield’s ear.

However, since then, they have become great friends and have also entered into a partnership to sell ‘Holy ears,’ cannabis-infused gummies. Nevertheless, Holyfield quickly found the post, responding, “I love you, Mike.” Soon afterward, Ngannou decided to comment on the post with laughing emojis. On a separate note, Ngannou is going to fight Anthony Joshua on March 18, so it begs an important question!

Is Mike training Ngannou again?

‘Iron’ Mike popularly trained Francis Ngannou in his clash against Tyson Fury. ‘The Predator’ ended up nearly causing an upset! However, Fury was lucky that night as he was awarded a split decision win, something many had felt was a robbery. So, as Ngannou gears up to enter the ring again, fans and pundits wanted to know if Tyson would train Ngannou again.

According to a 15 January interview with talkSport, Ngannou’s trainer Dewey Cooper claimed, “Whatever way Francis wants Mike Tyson to be involved he will be.” He later added, “I hope he will come through like he did last time and keep implementing his mentality and technique. I’m sure he will, but either way, [Ngannou] is going to be prepared and ready to go against Anthony Joshua.”
