The saga started when De La Hoya announced to the world that Rolly Romero had “priced himself out” of the Ryan Garcia fight. The super lightweight champion categorically denied such claims. Having lost probably the biggest paycheck of his career, Romero then opened fire on the American promoter and ‘KingRy’. When De La Hoya reached out to him, he was given a taste of Romero’s special.

De La Hoya’s message read, “Man wtf bro, talking sh*t about me. I have nothing but respect for you. I offered a sh*t load of money to you and you turned it down? Go fight pitbull for pennies bro and good luck.”

In response, Romero retorted with a comical idea. The boxer also took a dig at De La Hoya’s nickname, ‘Fishnets’, a jibe at De La Hoya’s fashion choices, which is a reference to an old photograph. He wrote, “You should thank me and trademark Oscar de la Fishnets. You’re welcome.” the 29-year-old champion then added in the caption, ” Al Haymon > Drug addicted Con-man Amazon > DAZN Good luck P.S I want my royalties on Oscar De la fishnets brand.”
