There’s only one talk that the winds in the boxing world prefer carrying – the magnum opus between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. And why shouldn’t they be doing so? After all, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime kind of fight. With high stakes, anyone with even the tiniest bit of involvement in boxing loves jumping in at the deep end. Celebrated television sports journalist and ESPN’s NBA analyst Stephen A Smith joins the bandwagon as he shares his valued viewpoints on tonight’s bout.

The negotiation table blew up the fight last year. It was on the lips of every die-hard boxing fan. But, it faced an outcome that so many modern line-ups ultimately met. A gradual melt into thin air. Like how it happened for the Tyson FuryOleksandr Usyk match. However, to the fans’ utter excitement, the stakeholders gathered around once again. They finalized July 29 as the date for the two world champions to meet and settle the undisputed argument.

The ace journalist discussed the fight on his show, ‘The Stephen A Smith Show.’ Also, in his opinion, it ranks way ahead of the famed 2015 Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Manny Pacquiao clash. He didn’t even spare his guest, ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson, checking out the former Heavyweight champion pick for Saturday night. Now it was his turn to sit on the hot seat.

ESPN First Take’s host Molly Qerim asked him yesterday, “How huge is this bout for boxing?” Smith responded, “I think it’s Mega I think this is the biggest fight since Mayweather Pacquiao that’s what I believe um and I’m dead serious about that except I think this fight will be significantly better…” Toeing his oft-mentioned belief on the contest ranking way above the ‘Battle for Greatness,’ he continues that, unlike Mayweather Jr., who could fight on the back foot, Crawford and Spence Jr. have excellent footwork and won’t back down.

Emphasizing the defensive skills of Spence Jr., Smith talked about the way he uses his jab to demolish opponents. He is perceivably the bigger and more powerful boxer between the two. But Crawford nonetheless wishes to lap a victory most gloriously. It will establish him as the most outstanding boxer in the world. Smith downplayed the hype surrounding the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. He finds the latest bout comparable to the Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Tommy Hearns match or the one between Ray Leonard and Hearns.

And the winner is…

He said, “ it will actually be better than Pacquiao versus Mayweather because neither of them [knows] how to move like Mayweather going [backward] which means they’re going to be there to be hit or to hit, and I think it’s going to be action-packed, it’s going to be spectacular, and I can’t wait this is the fight of the decade this is what we’ve been waiting for for years.

So Qerim finally asked for his winner’s pick. Smith replied that he foresees Terence Crawford winning by a decision. But the fight is so tight that he might as well change his view as the hours pass.
