In the long run, fans will pardon him. Bubba Bub committed a cardinal mistake. Floyd Mayweather Jr. messaged him, and he thought it was bogus! How in the heavens could he do that? But thankfully, the faux pas could be overlooked. After all, he eventually became close friends with the undefeated former champion. Had he not responded to the boxing legend’s message, which the famed comedian from east Texas shared over a podcast, he might have missed out on a great friendship.

Born Jerry Morgan, Bubba Dub grew up in Alto, Texas. He gained massive popularity through shows such as ‘Snitching on Rogers’ on YouTube. Over the years, he has collaborated with other comic acts such as J. J. Williamson, Tone X, and Desi Banks. He joined the ‘Cam Capone News’ team for a tête-à-tête. Soon he was taking them through his relationships with icons such as Shaquille O’Neal and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

From denial to the lasting bond between brothers

Dub shared that, though he had never met the basketball legend, they became good friends over the phone. The three-time NBA All-Star MVP even bought him tickets for an all-star game in Cleveland last year. Then the podcaster asked, “ I have seen, you know, you kind of hang out with Floyd May Mayweather a little bit.” Bubba Dub responded, “My brother, that’s my brother, that’s my big brother, uh, Floyd man, um, Floyd reached out to me on IG I thought it was fake…

He narrated how, after getting back to his room after a show, he was sifting through the messages. He continued, “I see a lot of people on Instagram @ Floyd Mayweather. I’m like, why is everybody at Floyd? This is my mo****ing page. I go and look, and Floyd was like, hey brother, check your DM. You know me, I’m like, this sh*t gotta be fake.” When he checked the direct message, it read: “Hey, I’m Floyd, and I want to meet you and talk to you. Here’s my assistant number; call this number.

Next, he dialed the number and was under the impression that he’d be reaching Mayweather Jr. directly. But instead, the boxing great’s assistant attended his call. She informed him that Mayweather Jr. was at a game in Los Angeles. However, during the half-time, he would be speaking with him over FaceTime. The Olympic bronze medalist kept his word, and they ended up having a wonderful talk.

Later, Bubba Dub shared his experiences palling around with one of boxing’s greatest.

Mayweather Jr.’s rollercoaster through friendships and exhibitions

Clearly, there was one happy man. There are many instances of Floyd Mayweather Jr. sticking around with his friends and close confidantes. However, a few of his friendships, such as the one with Justin Bieber, ran into rough weather. The undefeated former champion has yet to return to the ring after the June 11 John Gotti III fiasco. Ever since his retirement in 2017, the Grand Rapids-born Mayweather Jr. embarked on an exhibition match career and has thus far participated in 7 matches, out of which three were non-scoring fights, while one, the John Gotti III one, was declared a no-contest. It remains to be seen who he picks up for the next exhibition bout.
