Skye Nicolson successfully defended her interim WBC featherweight title, setting the stage for a potential clash against the undisputed champion Amanda Serrano in 2024, following a ninth-round stoppage victory over Lucy Wildheart. Wildheart, showing resilience after a challenging loss to Mikaela Mayer, faced a formidable Nicolson, a 28-year-old former Olympian.

The fight revealed a clear disparity in levels, as Nicolson improved her professional record to an impressive 9-0 in just over a year and a half. The win positions Nicolson as a rising force in the featherweight division. Nicolson has now called out Amanda Serrano for a potential bout.

Nicolson earned a chance at and secured the interim WBC featherweight title against Sabrina Perez in September. As the undisputed featherweight champion, Serrano’s reign influences Nicolson’s trajectory, and the Australian pugilist aspires for a showdown with the Puerto Rican star in the near future. She has left the decision in Serrano’s hands. She stated that she has demonstrated her worthiness as an opponent. However, Nicolson was all praise for the fighter she was calling out.

According to Nicolson, Serrano stands among the top pound-for-pound boxers in women’s boxing, a trailblazer for the sport. For Nicholson, it would be an honor to step into the ring with her. “I wanna prove I’m the best. I think I can win. My team thinks I can win,” said Nicolson to Boxing Social. She is eager to prove herself the best and is confident in her ability to win.
