In the city of Miami, a fundraising event organized by Israeli businessmen stirred up a storm on social media. The focal point of this uproar? None other than the legendary boxing icon, Mike Tyson. Tyson found himself in a pickle when he mistook a fundraiser event for a friendly get-together. What followed was a whirlwind of controversies that made Tyson’s visit to the event somewhat suspect.

The fundraising event, organized by Benny Shabtai and Oren Alexander, drew a crowd of over 500 attendees, comprising luminaries from the realms of art, media, business, and sports. While Tyson’s involvement took center stage, sparking fervent discussions online, the gathering served as a platform to rally financial support for the Israeli army, a cause that triggered strong reactions, particularly among supporters of the Palestinian cause. Accusations of “war crimes” in Gaza loomed large, casting a shadow over the event.

Taking to his Instagram, he announced, “I want to clarify the recent portrayal of an event I attended. Invited for a casual evening out by a friend, I was unaware of the arranged fundraiser and no donations were made by me or on my behalf. As a muslim and human, I support peace. My prayers have been and continue to be with my brothers and sisters.” Tyson called for peace and extended his sympathies towards the ones caught in the crossfire.

While Tyson has denied all controversies that suggested that he has donated to the Israeli military, the ongoing strife in the Middle East has made the world stand up and take notice. And the boxing community wasn’t far behind in voicing their concerns. Among them was boxer Nico Ali Walsh whose grandfather was a social justice icon, apart from being a boxing legend.

“My heart sinks anytime I have to witness my Muslim brothers and sisters and the world hurting in any way. Times like these make me think how much the world misses my grandfather. He wasn’t just the GOAT, he was one of the greatest men,” Walsh stated.

With the death toll touching 9500, the world watches in shock as the conflict intensifies. Meanwhile, Tyson has cleared the air and is steering clear from taking any sides in the conflict, all the while echoing the need for a peaceful resolution to this conflict.
