Floyd Mayweather was present at the Gervonta Davis vs Isaac Cruz fight on Sunday night. Following the fight, both Davis and Mayweather sat down in front of the media to answer questions about the fight and boxing in general. During a segment where Mayweather was sitting alone, answering questions, he spoke about Canelo Alvarez.

‘Money’ Mayweather was not happy with the way the reporters were praising Canelo. “They don’t wanna see Tank win coz they feel like it’s beating me. Because, I dominated the fight game for so long, but these same writers out here, they praise Canelo.”

“He can pick and choose who he wanna fight. Imma tell ya’ll the truth about Canelo. Mo**** easy man, he cakewalk, easy. Ya’ll sitting up here, ya’ll praising this dude. This dude was nothing. I was almost 40 years old when I cooked this dude. Easy,” Mayweather said, as the crowd of reporters laughed.

Canelo is yet to respond to Mayweather’s remarks.

Canelo is currently training, packing on the pounds to take on Ilunga Makabu for the WBC Cruiserweight title. He will look to become the first Mexican to hold titles in five divisions. If he succeeds, he will join the list of boxing elites like Mayweather and Pacquiao, who have themselves held belts in five or more divisions.

Floyd Mayweather barred Gervonta Davis from wearing Canelo’s gloves

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis used to use the ‘No Boxing No Life’ gloves, which is Canelo’s company. He used the gloves while training and even in his fight against Mario Barrios.

In an interview ahead of the fight against Isaac Cruz, Mayweather sat down to confirm that Davis will not be wearing Canelo’s gloves as he feels the Mexican superstar is rooting against Davis.

“What I don’t like is this and I want ya’ll to think about this. You can’t be wearing Canelo gloves and he is rooting against you. I don’t get it, I mean, I wouldn’t do it, I mean, we can wear a thousand different gloves, the result is always going to be the same, I can’t wear your gloves and you root against me,” Mayweather said.
