Currently, if there’s a name that sparkles way above the rest of the cohorts, then it is that of Terence Crawford. How many could boast an accomplishment matching the Omaha, Nebraska-born Southpaw’s exploits? Adding to this, the enormous commercial success of the event on July 29, hauling in roughly $21 million in gate revenue, has catapulted his stakes to a fort whose walls many would find daunting to breach anytime soon. It seems he knew what he had to do at the T-Mobile Arena. But he hadn’t bargained for what Errol Spence Jr. brought that night.

Fans and viewers saw the superior boxing skills of Terence Crawford, who completely outboxed the Long Island, New York-born Southpaw. So it was natural that nearly a month after it ended, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience‘ would pick the fight. Roughly ten minutes after the discussion started, ‘Bud’ shared how he preferred not to watch the old fight videos of his opponents and instead went for adjusting himself in the ring.

Terence Crawford reflects on the fight with Errol Spence Jr. with some unexpected wisdom

Likewise, the Welterweight champion shared that his decision to stick to any particular stance—Southpaw or Orthodox—usually depended on his opponent. Soon the discussion moored at the match. Rogan mentioned how Crawford changed the tone of the bout in the third round. The latter, agreeing, said that he was well aware that he had the game in his palm.

Joe Rogan could not help but admire Crawford’s peerless fighting skills and said, “…it was a masterclass… He’s rolling with every shot. He’s picking off every shot that dude’s throwing at him, and he’s countering with like split-second timing.” Concurring, ‘Bud’ mentioned that pulling it off was very tough. He explained that one has to be composed to take a few risks: “... like when…when I dropped him with an uppercut and a hook, I got hit. Yeah, I got hit while storing the uppercut, but I knew that going into it because I baited the man and set a trap. So in my mind, I’am going to take one to get this off.

Crawford shared that by creating alternatives, he managed to drop Spence Jr. a second time. Rogan then asked how the latter struck during the fight. The Nebraskan responded that Spence Jr. didn’t land a decisive blow. Then further elaborating that he managed to hit quite a few times, ‘Bud’ said, “…but I was surprised [that] how hard he didn’t hit…given that everybody says, Oh, he’s a big puncher. He’s this…..I think he just wears an opponent down…just wear them down. I don’t think you know he has a one-punch knockout. He has power, but it’s not like…boom…sleep…

Crawford on the prowl for another fish?

Outside of that revelation, the two also discussed the possibility of a Jermell Charlo fight. Crawford mentioned explicitly that he aims to become a three-division undisputed champion. Hence, he would love fighting ‘Iron Man.’ If not him, then Canelo Alvarez. He even postulated that the Canelo-Crawford fight would be something the world would not have seen before.
