For Keyshawn Davis, his desperation to fight Teofimo Lopez takes precedence. The latter, on the other hand, seems to not be on the same page. In a fresh roar against the Las Vegas-based fighter, Davis held no qualms in furthering this beef.

Before his Jamaine Ortiz fight earlier this month, ‘The Businessman’ who also routed himself on the same card against Jose Pedraza, confronted Lopez. Davis reflected that he was offended that Lopez mentioned his name in a previous interview. Post that meet-up during their press conference, everything seemed cordial. Once fight night had elapsed, however, things got heated.

5-years-ago, when Davis had not begun his professional career yet, reports suggested that in a sparring session with Teofimo Lopez Sr., the fighter had dominated. Leaked visuals from the final few rounds of the session corroborated the story. However, years later, 24-year-old, Davis says there is no bad blood between Senior and him.

On the other hand, he used the past to further call on Junior Lopez. Suggesting that if someone had laid their hands on his parents, he’d never forgive them. Davis noted that Lopez denies fighting him despite what he did to his father 5 years ago. To Punsh Drunk Boxing, he stated, “Man, let’s be real. I’m from Norfolk, Virginia. If anybody put their hands on my mother or my father, is no back getting good. We beefing for the rest of our life. F*ck. You see him, he put his hand out so I can shake it. It wasn’t the other way around at that press conference.”

At their presser, Davis confronted Lopez about an interview where the WBO super lightweight champion shaded the fighter. When asked why he did so, Lopez cited the time when Davis chose Terence Crawford over him, if the two were to clash. Post the recent fight, in which both won, however, it was Davis who dominated the night, Lopez nudged the fighter along the ring. While noting that they’ve not met since then, Davis on multiple avenues challenged Lopez for a fight.

Earlier to Fight Hub TV, the orthodox fighter had noted“All Teofimo has got to do is send the contract. We got the same promoter. We’ve seen each other in the Top Rank office. We can go to the Top Rank office and sit down, and we can make the fight happen.” In response, came Lopez denying a fight for a reason he thinks is pertinent to him.

On the same podcast, a few days earlier, Lopez broke his silence on Davis’ call out for a fight. He said, “This kid Keyshawn Davis they talkin’ about, he just wants an easy route to be famous. So big-headed. Completely big-headed. Hasn’t done anything in the sport of boxing. Doesn’t even have a world title. Those little belts that he has. I got that the first year I turned pro. Sh!t that was in three years, three years, and some change. I became a world champion at 22 years young (with a win over Vasiliy Lomachenko).”

Their common promoter, Bob Arum too, thinks that it is premature to hold a fight between them. To Boxing Scene, the senior promoter noted, “I think it’s a little too early for Keyshawn, although Keyshawn surprised me [Thursday] night. He was incredibly good against an experienced fighter.” While Davis defeated Pedraza via a 6th-round TKO, Lopez struggled to bag his on-points victory over Ortiz.
