Turning to X (formerly Twitter), editor for talkSports, Benson, revealed Canelo’s statement about David Benavidez. Canelo began by suggesting that the same thing always happened to him, but he had beaten all those opponents. “Yeah, it always happens – Erislandy Lara, Austin Trout, Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, Gennady Golovkin, Daniel Jacobs, Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders. At the end of the day, I beat practically all of them,” said Canelo.

He went on to suggest that if he fights Benavidez and defeats him, the boxing community would come up with another opponent to pit against him. Canelo said, “If I beat Benavidez, they’re gonna say, ‘Oh, why don’t you face this other guy?” In addition, Benson revealed that Canelo claimed he had achieved everything he could in the sport of boxing. “Look at my history. I’ve done everything in boxing. I’ve done it all,” said Canelo. With that out of the way, the Benavidez vs. Canelo fight might actually happen.
