It has been months but Rolando Romero still has no plans of stepping foot inside the ring any time soon. ‘Rolly’ Romero achieved his lifelong aspiration by securing a world championship this May. The Las Vegas native clinched the vacant WBA Super Lightweight World Title with a ninth-round TKO against No. 1 contender Ismael Barroso. Notably, Romero was trailing on all three judges’ scorecards before his impressive comeback and eventual victory.
Meanwhile, Ryan Garcia is eager to face Romero after he won his bout against Oscar Duarte. However, his next hurdle is not fighting Romero, but getting him to fight him since it seems like Romero wants a much longer break.

What would Rolly Romero rather do than go to the gym?
It is December now, more than 6 months since Romero earned his first title. However, he is in no rush to take on the next challenge. “I haven’t even thought about getting back in the ring yet. I’m just taking my time now,” said Romero in an interview with Fight Hub TV recently.
He would rather spend his time enjoying on a tropical island than sweat it out in the gym. “Starve to death, getting punched in the face, being in the gym with sweaty disgusting dudes or being on a tropical island getting my d*ck su*ked by 2 girls at the same time. What sounds better to you?” asked Romero to the interviewer. Clearly, Romero’s priorities lie elsewhere at the moment. How long will Garcia wait?

When asked about his recent performance and future goals, Garcia expressed interest in a matchup with Romero, highlighting the excitement it could bring. He acknowledged Romero’s aggressive and unique style, expressing eagerness for the lead-up to such a fight. “I don’t know if you have a real injury or not, but he’ll answer.” said ‘KingRy’. Despite uncertainty about a potential injury, Garcia is confident that Romero will respond to the challenge.
