In professional boxing, Oscar De La Hoya suffered six losses inside the ring. Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Bernard Hopkins, Shane Mosley, and Felix Trinidad are the fighters that conquered De La Hoya while he still competed as a pro boxer. These losses inside the ring as well as those outside the squared circle that barely make it to the public eye taught De La Hoya as much about life as his victories and proud accomplishments did in his career. It is fair to say that the 50-year-old retired boxing veteran and now the active CEO of ‘Golden Boy Promotions’ has well comprehended the importance of losses in life.
In his opinion, losses help one stay humble and provide room for introspection which ultimately leads to progress. While victories clothe one with glory and fill them with pride, losses assist one in keeping touch with the absurd reality. Likewise, De La Hoya recently took to Twitter and lectured his fans and followers about the importance of humility while warning them about losses.

In his latest interview, speaking about Ryan Garcia‘s return to the ring following his latest loss to Gervonta Davis, De La Hoya stated the need for a win. In his view, with a win beside, everyone forgets about the loss. “You’re only as good as your last fight,” he said. However, according to De La Hoya, staying humble is equally important as winning. Thus, taking to Twitter, the 50-year-old promoter wrote, “Remember to always stay humble because you never know when you’re gonna lose.”
