It is if he manages to tip the scales in the next big fight. Next month, the world will finally get to see the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years. The Ngannou-Joshua clash will follow a few weeks later. So what if, as many fans may have already thought out, the winners of both bouts could square off for a mega showdown? As the news trickles in, it seems that a plan could be underway to turn that dream into reality. Furthermore, the initiative seems to enjoy the support of the highest sports authority in Saudi Arabia, the very place where these bouts unfold

His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, per the available reports, has expressed a desire. The winner of the fight for the undisputed championship between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk on February 17 should fight the boxer who triumphs in the Anthony Joshua versus Francis Ngannou contest on March 8. So basically, the newly crowned, undisputed champion could be gearing up for a title defense.

Michael Benson’s tweet read, “His Excellency Turki Alalshikh has made it clear that he wants the winner of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk on Feb 17th to defend the undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF, & WBO heavyweight world titles against the winner of Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou on March 8th.

As far as Francis Ngannou is concerned, many of his fans would yearn for it. If the former UFC heavyweight champion defeats Joshua, then he might be meeting ‘The Gypsy King’ once again. Otherwise, an equally intriguing face-off with Usyk should be in the offing.

On October 28, in Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena, Francis Ngannou faced Tyson Fury in the ‘Battle of the Baddest’. Despite beginning as the outright underdog, the former stunned the world with his performance. He managed to send the heavyweight champion to the canvas in the third round. Then he also made the revered wrestler go the total distance. It’s a different matter; victory slipped through his fingers with a heartbreaking split decision.

In March, he returns to the Middle East to face the next big challenge. The last fight earned him a place among the WBC’s top ten heavyweight rankings. However, this time, if he wins, the reward could be something only a few in the boxing world can dream of.
