It is customary for family and relatives to be present when a boxer enters the ring. But what if one of them opts to stand on the opposing side quite literally? For sure, it would have taken many fans by surprise. After all, how can one of rap’s greatest performers take a stance against someone he refers to as a relative?
Thankfully, fans and followers can heave a sigh of relief. It’s a lighthearted jest meant for the enjoyment of all. But a word of caution: the prank might not resonate with the essence of the event that takes place under the auspices of Jake Paul‘s Most Valuable Promotions. For that matter, neither does it with the boxer in question. 19-year-old Ashton Sylve is all serious business about his upcoming bout. The Long Beach, California-born boxer wants to continue with his unbeaten streak as he enters the ring. However, for a change, in the promotional poster stood his uncle, the rap legend Snoop Dogg.

While ‘The Problem Child’ shared the gag through his Instagram story, Ashton Sylve shared it through a post. The Youtuber-turned boxer said, “Let’s get it, @ashtonsylveh2o, @snoopdogg.” But the young lightweight stated matter-of-factly, “1 week away. Tune in next week, Friday, February 2nd, 2024. Live on @daznboxing to watch my fight for the WBC YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE #HardWorkMakesEasyWork.”

Incidentally, his uncle stood alongside those who cheered him. Snoop Dogg commented, “Let’s go, Nefew.” The eleventh fight of Ashton Sylve’s career is scheduled to take place next week in Florida. The bout on Friday, February 2, at the Caribe Royal Orlando in Orlando features a good number of cards to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats. Sylve, the rising prospect in the 135-pound division, would be reportedly fighting Brazil’s Estivan Falcao for the WBC youth lightweight belt.

Beginning his career on October 31, 2020, Ashton Sylve has yet to see the face of defeat. Last year, he entered the ring twice. He won the first on May 26 through a unanimous decision. However, the devastating knockout win over William Silva on August 5 under the Jake Paul and Nate Diaz undercard found him occupying space in quite a few headlines. The five-foot, 8-inch-tall orthodox boxer won nine of his ten bouts via knockouts. As a result, his knockout-to-win stands at a staggering 90%.
A first title win would for sure increase his stock in the volatile 135-pound division. The weight class boasts names such as Gervonta Davis, Shakur Stevenson, Raymond Muratalla, and Frank Martin, to name a few.
