Canelo Alvarez has been quite vocal about wanting the rematch against Dmitry Bivol, since his fight against John Ryder. Alvarez took the fight against John Ryder, coming off a hand injury. Otherwise, Eddie Hearn‘s plan for ‘Cinnamon’ was to get him the rematch as soon as possible. In the trilogy Gennady Golovkin fight, Alvarez broke his hand and had to undergo surgery. But now when the road to the rematch was all clear for Alvarez, he moved on to sign the multi-fight deal with Premier Boxing Champions.

Notably, Bivol refused to fight Caneo at 175 lbs. He wanted to prove his might in other divisions and fight Saul Alvarez for his belts at 168 lbs. But, the pound-for-pound king wanted to redeem his loss at 175 lbs, so it didn’t work out the way they wanted. So, with the lack of a middle ground, the idea of the rematch was called off. Well, recently, Bivol’s manager has revealed a different perspective on this matter.

Although Canelo Alvarez hasn’t stopped talking about the rematch, Dmitry Bivol’s manager, Vadim Kornilov believes that it was all a hoax to gain the public’s sympathy. Because the moment Bivol came up with his side of the negotiations, Alvarez started looking at his other options. The WBA Light Heavyweight titlist’s chief handler, found it disgraceful on Alvarez’s end, to back down from the fight like this.

Kornilov talked to BoxingScene and stated, “As I have said before, Canelo talking about the Bivol rematch was always just a front for the fans to believe.” And now that the Mexican Boxing Champion is out of the picture, the team is in a full-fledged motion to find Bivol a great opponent. He hasn’t stepped inside the ring since competing against Gilberto Ramirez in November.

At first, when Alvarez had a meeting with Al Haymon in the Cleveland Area, the WBC Champion Jermall Charlo was the contender set up for ‘Cinnamon’ at 160 lbs. But earlier this week, Jermall Charlo reportedly refused to fight in September, and all eyes turned toward his twin brother. And without wasting any time, the fight between the undisputed champions was announced.

Charlo has acquired all four belts at 154 pounds, while Alvarez is the holder of all four Super Middleweight belts. The fight is scheduled for September 30, in Las Vegas. The exact venue has not been revealed yet. This will be the first time ‘Big Baby’ will fight above 154 pounds and that too by jumping two weight classes. As reportedly, according to ESPN, the bout may be contested at 168 pounds.
