Whiz Khalifa was one of the first to share a message when the news of rapper and fellow yinzer Mac Miller’s demise broke. Khalifa, who reportedly spotted the young, talented musician, expressed his sorrow and prayed for the departed soul. Then, two years later, he went down memory lane when Mike Majlak, co-host at the Podcast Impaulsive and best friend of Logan Paul, wanted to understand his relationship with the late rapper. And before long, Whiz Khalifa bared his soul before the trio and the wider audience.

Logan Paul launched Impaulsive in 2018, roughly around the time he lost the first amateur boxing bout to British YouTuber KSI at Manchester Arena. The Podcast boasts a subscription upwards of 4 million. Paul hosts the show with his friends Mike Majlak and George Janko.

Logan Paul’s best friend apologizes for opening past wounds

Cameron Jibril Thomaz, or, more popularly, Whiz Khalifa, was the guest at Impaulsive’s episode number 357. The trio began with questions on Khalifa’s journey into music and his life as a military brat. Then, he regaled them with the story of releasing his first album when he was fourteen!

As he told them about settling in Pittsburgh to explore his musical width, Mike couldn’t help but ask, “…you know, selfishly, I just got to ask you a little bit about your relationship with Mac.”

Khalifa, unpretentiously, agreed and shared how he saw the young Mac Miller visiting the studio where the former used to hang out. The Work Hard, Play Hard singer was impressed with how Miller used to deal with the crowd at the studio. Soon he became a mentor to the latter. He explained how they eventually chose different musical paths despite traveling in the same boat.

Mac Miller began his career as a rapper at age fifteen. Blue Slide Park Miller’s first studio album, released in 2011, became the first individually developed album since 1995 to top the US Billboard 200. For his album Swimming, he received a nomination for the Grammy’s in the Best Rap Album category.

At the time of his death on September 7, 2018, Miller was twenty-six years old. He reportedly died at home from an overdose of cocaine, fentanyl, and alcohol. He was very close to Whiz Khalifa and considered him a big brother.

When Mike asked, “What was that like when you found out that that he had passed?” Khalifa responded immediately, It hurt me it was it was really really sad just….”
