‘It’s Gonna Be a Knockout Event’: Mike Tyson Makes an Announcement

The WBC has been one of the premier organizations in the sport of boxing since its advent in 1963. Its annual convention has often been one of the biggest boxing events of the respective years. The organization is set to host its 60th Annual convention. And they got one of the most iconic names of the sport, Mike Tyson, to promote it.

The 60th WBC Annual Convention is said to take place in Acapulco, Mexico from November 6-11, 2022. Talking about the annual convention, the WBC page said, “The Port of Acapulco and the WBC, are ready for our Sixtieth. We have prepared a magical event full of charm and a lot of boxing, where surprises abound.”

It was also mentioned that the event will include a fight session, approval of world rankings, and also seminars for ring officials, judges, and referees.

In fact, it was also specifically stated that the sole purpose of the same was to enrich and update the sport of boxing, while also prioritizing the health and safety of boxers.

Mike Tyson promoted the WBC convention

The Baddest Man on the Planet‘ was quick to extend his support to the event. And went on to promote the same on his social media account.

In an Instagram post, he said, “Hey everyone, I’m Mike Tyson. And I’m a very proud WBC Champion for life. Don’t miss the WBC convention at Acapulco at Mundo Imperial. It’s gonna be a knockout event.”

Meanwhile, WBC president, Mauricio Sulaiman, had previously called Tyson one of the icons of the sport.

When Tyson announced his comeback in 2020, Sulaiman was quick to express his admiration for the champ. He highlighted how Tyson was the youngest boxer to win a world championship. Thus, he has several great things to say about the legendary boxer. After all, one cannot sideline his achievements.

Sulaiman further added that he will always support Mike Tyson.
