“It’s Like I’ve Died”: Kell Brook Makes Disturbing Confession About Hitting Rock Bottom in Rehab and Life Without Boxing

Being in the spotlight and fighting in the ring in front of millions of people brings great fame. However, every coin has two sides; with fame come many expectations and hurdles. Many fail to overcome them. Nevertheless, former IBF Welterweight champion Kell Brook made it through his hardships during both his time of fame and downfall.

Brook had retired from boxing after defeating his old rival Amir Khan in a grudge match back in February of 2022. Since then multiple videos of him involved in scandals have surfaced. Last February, a video of him using drugs went viral on the internet. Brook had issued a public apology to his fans and had assured them that he would get help. It seems he did as he talks about it on the Up Front with Simon Jordan podcast. Let us see what he had to say.

Kell Brook felt like he had no purpose

“By going into boxing, did it save you from going into a path where a lot of mates went down?” was a question posed by Simon Jordan. Brook replied by saying, “Hundred percent, one hundred percent yeah, I think if I hadn’t found boxing I’d definitely be dead or in prison,” mentioning how where he is from, a man is a product of his environment and he had to work hard to change his life around.

Speaking about his life during Rehab, Brook admitted, “This is after my career, this is when I’ve been rock bottom, this is when no one is phoning up to go to the gym anymore, this is when me like like me purpose is over, this is when I feel like my life’s ending, when I feel like I’ve died because I’ve got no fire. it’s like I’ve died because I’ve got no fight, that’s what my life was. When I’ve come to retire, I sat there in my big house and I’m thinking what do I do now, what do I do next?” Brook admitted to making a choice to change while talking about rehab and trying to come out of his drug and alcohol problems. With things finally aligning themselves in Brook’s life, will he step out of retirement? Let us find out.

Only pure dislike would be enough reason to make Brook step out of retirement. Well, that is exactly what is forcing him out of his plans to sit back and relax. Brook wants to come back just to face Chris Eubank Jr. Eubank was described as arrogant by the former champion.

“I would prefer to fight Chris Eubank. I just don’t like him. He’s so arrogant. I’d get through a training a lot easier. There’s something about him that just goes through me,” said Brook in the interview. However, Whether their fight will materialize or not is a question all of us seek an answer to.

Kell Brook’s journey through the years has been one of achievements and downfalls alike. His life has been both shiny and dull at the same time. It seems it has finally started to stabilize.
