After the loss against Terence Crawford in July last year, Errol Spence Jr. said he was physically a little off. In addition, he mentioned that his timing was not good. As a result, Spence Jr. hoped his rematch against ‘Bud’ would take place at 154 lbs. However, the rematch was unlikely to happen after Spence Jr. underwent a cataract surgery this year. But, if ‘The Truth’ beats the winner of Tim Tszyu vs. Sebastian Fundora while Crawford moves up to 154, the two may fight one another for the second time.

In this context, FightHype asked the former unified Heavyweight champion, Andre Ward what Spence Jr. had to do to win against ‘Bud’. In his reply, Ward said that Spence Jr.’s comeback would not be easy. Here is what ‘The Truth’ must do.

During his latest interview with FightHype, Andre Ward mediated on the questions Errol Spence Jr. must answer before facing Terence Crawford for the second time should the rematch happen. Although Ward believes “anything is possible,” he understands that Spence Jr. has  “a lot of psychological stuff” to overcome first. As per Ward, once a boxer is dethroned after establishing himself as “The Big Fish,” he needs to participate in “soul searching“.

You got to do some digging. It’s like somebody died. How did that happen? So, that’s the first thing you got to overcome,” said Andre Ward. “Then, you got to see how your body’s going to respond, Not just in camp. You got to see how it’s going to respond in that fight with them small gloves on,” he added.

It’s legitimate questions that Errol Spence has to answer for himself, for the world. So, I would like to see him in a fight before I can answer that question about what he needs to do against Terence Crawford,” Ward concluded. Therefore, as boxing fans, we must now wait to see whether or not Spence Jr. decides to face the winner of Tim Tszyu vs. Sebastian Fundora at 154 lbs.
