Glee star Lea Michelle slammed rumors that claimed she could not read. The social media attacked her with silly and “sad” comments, claiming she was unable to read or write. Obviously, the Glee star felt offended and replied with indignation. Michelle began her career as a child actress and made her appearances on several Broadway productions. Among her celebrated works are Les Misérables, Ragtime, Fiddler on the Roof, and Spring Awakening. There are several accolades she received on the basis of her talent and devotion to her craft. Apart from the Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominations, Michelle won the People’s Choice and Teen’s Choice Awards multiple times.

The assumption and propagation of the theory that claimed she could not read is “sad,” Michelle believes. She recently said, “I went to ‘Glee’ every single day; I knew my lines every single day. And then there’s a rumor online that I can’t read or write?”

“It’s sad. It really is. I think often if I were a man, a lot of this wouldn’t be the case.” However, Lea Michelle is not the only one who was ever a victim to online trolling based on rumors that claimed the person in question was “illiterate”. Boxing star and pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather for long suffered the same mockery and hatred.

In Mayweather‘s case, however, it was a friendly banter with rapper 50 cent that started off the false claim. Contrary to Cent’s words, Floyd Mayweather can actually read. For a long time Mayweather and 50 cent have remained friends. There were even times when 50 Cent carried Mayweather’s belts to the ring.
