So far Gervonta Davis is having a year full of ups and downs. With an easy victory against the young boxing sensation Ryan Garcia, Davis further solidified his position as one of the top dogs in the division. The fight marked a new era for Davis, fans were excited at the young boxer’s future prospects. Many were looking forward to him facing the likes of Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson. However, things took a turn for the worse and the Baltimore boxer found himself serving a prison sentence.

‘Tank’ and Rolly Romero have had some rivalry in the past. Last year they both stepped inside the ring and crossed blows, however, Davis came off as the victor with a knockout. Ever since the loss, Romero had been pushing for a rematch, though Davis appeared disinterested. Now that his rival has come out of prison after just 44 days, Rolly Romero has a wholesome message for Davis.

Rolly Romero sends a message to Gervonta Davis

During an interview with FightHype, Rolly Romero was asked about his thoughts on Gervonta Davis’ release from prison. In a sincere tone, Romero expressed his congratulations and happiness for Davis. Recognizing the hardships of incarceration, Romero acknowledged that being locked up takes a toll on everyone. He added, “It’s tough in there you know, and being locked up it’s hard on everybody.

When questioned about Davis potentially coming out with a competitive edge in his next fight due to his time in prison, Romero mentioned hearing about Davis engaging in intense workouts while incarcerated. This led Romero to believe that Davis would not be rusty and would likely perform well.

The interviewer further inquired if Romero had any interest in facing Devin Haney or Shakur Stevenson in the ring. Romero’s response was straightforward and dismissive. He stated that he did not know those individuals and preferred to discuss opponents who were currently relevant in the boxing scene.

‘Tank’ Davis tastes freedom after 44 days

After spending 44 days in incarceration, Davis finally came out of jail. On Friday, as he exited the prison, cameras captured this momentous occasion. Even though the young boxer managed to get a lesser sentence initially and avoided jail time, he inevitably ended up in jail after his actions ultimately led to a violation of his sentence terms. In November 2020, Davis was involved in a hit-and-run car accident that caused injuries to four individuals, resulting in his subsequent sentencing in May.

Having pleaded guilty to four traffic offenses and accepting a plea deal, Davis managed to evade a prison term. The Southpaw artist earned himself 90 days of home detection as well as three years probation. However, as per Bleacher Report, Davis soon found himself incarcerated once again after he bought a lavish $3.4 million penthouse at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Finally, after spending 44 days in jail, Davis regained his precious freedom. In the pictures taken on Friday, he sported a noticeable afro and facial hair, symbolizing his return to liberty. Davis promptly took to social media to share an emoji of saluting. This gesture conveyed his gratitude towards his supporters and assured them of his safe return home.
