Why are Tommy Fury and Jake Paul not running it back? The two have unfinished business and have flirted with the idea of a rematch for a long time. But what went wrong? It seems the problem lies in the British fighter’s camp.
Fury, 24, is currently recovering from hand surgery and has recently started hitting the gym. He has now pitched the idea of “dancing again” and a rematch as he uploaded one of his training clips. While the fans want a rematch as they witnessed a controversial decision the last time the boxers fought, Paul has some stipulations for him. The first one is to leave his father, John Fury.

‘The Problem Child’ dropped a message on the clip where ‘TNT’ had called him out. Jake, at 9-1, wondered whether his rival was running dry on finances and suggested he follow in Tyson Fury‘s footsteps and separate his father from his career and finances. He said, “You need money Tommy? Learn from big bro and stop letting daddy manage your career and finances.”

Following this, the American fighter also pointed out that Fury missed out on the biggest opportunity of his career when he didn’t hotly pursue a rematch. While Fury declined a two-fight offer worth $20 million, including an MMA bout, Paul looked out for an opponent and landed with Mike Tyson. He then cautioned Fury that he might have to contend with only half the offered price. He added, “You lost out on the biggest opportunity of your life #PaulTyson. My next offer going to be half that.”

The 27-year-old clarified in a previous ESPN interview that Fury had no choice but to fight him. He declared, “All doors for Tommy lead to me. I can do whatever I want.” However, Paul’s decision to fight ‘Iron Mike’ hasn’t appeased Fury, who has called the matchup “disgraceful.”

Fury threw a jab at Paul when he sat down with Jamal Nia. He said, “I know one thing. He [Jake Paul] couldn’t beat me, so he is jumping in the ring with a 60-year-old. But Jake Paul hasn’t done himself any favors.”
“Would I get in the ring with Mike Tyson if I was offered it tomorrow? No. You have to have some respect about you, I think,” Fury continued. Notably, Paul fights Tyson on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and streams on Netflix. It remains to be seen whether Paul and Fury will capitalize on their rivalry and do a rematch.
