Eddie Hearn remains in a fix. Is pitting two of his marquee fighters, Chantelle Cameron and Katie Taylor, against each other for a third time a favorable course? Or, can he use a third name to diffuse this polar situation? Perhaps Amanda Serrano? In a loud and clear declaration, her promoter, Jake Paul, has asked the British promoter to steer clear of such plausibilities.

Cameron, with a record of 18-1, seeks an opportunity to reaffirm her grip on the super-light division after she registered her career’s first loss at the hands of 23-1, Taylor in November last year. This was after losing her undisputed tiles to Cameron in a previous fight in May. A trilogy clash between them would be the ideal and expected course of action. In a latest revelation, Taylor’s promoter, Hearn mentioned Serrano as being one of the possible opponents for the 37-year-old undisputed champion. However, Jake Paul dismissed these possibilities, questioning whether Serrano herself was interested in facing her former adversary.

In April 2022, the Puerto Rican fame, Serrano broke the streak of victories she had maintained since 2012. In a sold-out Madison Square Garden, she lost to Taylor, as the latter defended her undisputed status in the lightweight class successfully via a split decision. Since then, fans have anticipated a rematch between them. Two years later, when Matchroom Boxing head, Hearn, hinted at talks taking place for such a fight, Paul flipped the discourse and revealed otherwise.

On his X, ‘Problem Child’ in a detailed post clarified that there are no talks between Taylor and Serrano’s team for a second fight between them. He then asked Hearn to not use Serrano’s name to diffuse the pressure that the British promoter was under to get his key fighter another big-name fight. He wrote, “For the record, we are not in any discussions on a Serrano Taylor rematch, don’t use her name for leverage. Amanda is fighting Saturday, March 2nd in Puerto Rico in her 50th fight.” On March 2nd, alongside Paul, Serrano will headline a defense of her undisputed featherweight title against German fighter, Nina Meinke.

The 27-year-old, influencer-turned-boxer, further noted that Serrano remains determined to face Taylor once again before she hangs up her gloves for good. However, if that does not happen, her legacy in the sport will still live on. “After that we will determine what’s next. A Katie Taylor rematch is something Amanda would like to do before she retires. But even if it never happens, her legacy as one of the GOATs of boxing is already cemented,” added the Problem Child.

Earlier, while leaving Serrano as a viable opponent for Taylor, Hearn had noted to BBC Sport, ” The Serrano fight is still a fight which definitely works.” But What about Taylor vs. Cameron 3?

To the BBC, Hearn noted that the trilogy fight between his key fighters remains the obvious course of action. “The first two fights with Cameron were two fight of the year contenders and I think the focus is definitely on the trilogy,” said Hearn.

When can fans expect such a fight? Hearn revealed, “The latest would be early June but, in an ideal world, we’d like that to take place in May.” What about the location of the fight? “We’re certainly looking to make sure her next fight is in Ireland,” added Hearn.
