Jake Paul fans have reason to celebrate. Although he’s set to face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. next month, following the electrifying event he headlined with Mike Tyson last November, Paul now promises to deliver another unforgettable spectacle. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, the Ohio native revealed that a potential bout with Anthony Joshua is in the works for next year.
That’s major news. After fighting the youngest heavyweight champion in history, Paul will take on a former middleweight. And now he’s eyeing a match with a former unified heavyweight champion who remains active in the sport. After back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua had managed to steer his career back toward title contention until Daniel Dubois disrupted those plans. While talks of a much-anticipated all-British showdown with Tyson Fury have circulated, they largely remain uncertain due to Fury’s retirement. A high-profile clash with a global name like Jake Paul could potentially reignite Joshua’s momentum. But it also promises a significant payday.

Jake Paul: Let’s do this, AJ!
As the interview wrapped up, Helwani touched on several rumored matchups. One involved Carl Froch. The former super middleweight champion and International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee reportedly claimed he could take on Jake Paul with ‘one hand tied.’

So Ariel Helwani then asked, “And is Joshua a real thing in 26?” “Yeah, yeah,” responded Jake Paul before adding, “Yeah, we talked on the phone for like 10 minutes. Wow, um, and we’re both down, and I said 2026. He was like, “All right, let’s get it.” And we’re going to make it happen. Um, so yeah, I think that’s going to be a mega fight next year and something fun to test my skills at heavyweight.”
Paul, nevertheless, couldn’t resist closing with a bold prediction. He ‘believes’ he can beat Anthony Joshua. So Paul reflected, “I think his chin is gone, and especially if he fights another time or two in between the end of 2026, I love Anthony. He’s always supported me. Um, I’ve always supported him, but I just do believe I can beat him in a fight.”
Weeks ago, Jake Paul called out Anthony Joshua and later flashed his phone on camera to show that Joshua had indeed called him back.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Jake Paul really take down Anthony Joshua, or is this just another publicity stunt?
Have an interesting take?
But let’s be real for once
Following his heavyweight bout with Mike Tyson, Paul’s next fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will be at cruiserweight. If a clash with Joshua does materialize, Paul would once again need to move up in weight for the blockbuster showdown. But despite Paul’s confidence in beating the former champion, the idea of this fight hasn’t sparked much excitement.

Joshua’s longtime promoter and friend Eddie Hearn dismissed the matchup as little more than a joke. “To be honest, like, I look at it, and I think Jake Paul against Anthony Joshua—I mean, look, for me, we’ll do it for the banter, do you know what I mean?” Hearn said.
Still, the Matchroom boss acknowledged Paul’s unmatched ability to generate hype and huge pay-per-view numbers. Eddie Hearn termed Paul’s challenge a ‘wild moment.’ Nevertheless, he pointed out that since Joshua isn’t currently holding a title or eyeing contention, he might take the fight for an easy payday.
