Jake Paul Shares a Cryptic Message Ahead of Puerto Rico Comeback

It takes a certain character to get up after suffering a major setback. That’s what Jake Paul proved last year. Despite his career-first defeat in February, his subsequent two fights never bore any resemblance to that instance. As much as he is looking forward to the year’s first bout, the recent success of his Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) prospect series seems to have bolstered ‘The Problem Child’s spirits. No wonder he shared such an enigmatic message over the X/Twitter handle early this morning.

Jake Paul will return less than a month from now to face another professional boxer. On March 2, he squares up against Ryan Bourland. Their fight is a co-main event of the Amanda Serrano–Nine Meinke headliner in Puerto Rico’s capital, San Juan. Paul seems to be on a quest to raise the bar. After Tommy Fury and André August, Bourland is the third professional boxer he fights. On the other hand, the Most Valuable Prospect series’ debut featured some genuinely good fights and equally exciting stories.

“Check the standings – we still top top.” That’s all ‘The Problem Child’ wrote. It seems quite challenging to precisely discern Jake Paul’s hints. Perhaps the successful closure of a major event, an inaugural followed by an upcoming big card where he is one of the participants, might have ushered in those thoughts. What it feels like to stay at the top of the world.

Of course, as always, there will be questions. Like his last opponent, Andre August, Ryan Bourland enters the picture as another 35-year-old, semi-retired boxer. But given his past credentials, it would only be prudent for Jake Paul to take ‘The Rhino’s charge seriously. If he wins, then it will not only add another feather to his cap but also make his case in the boxing world more serious. However, Jake Paul, going by what he stated in the morning, seems unperturbed.

On the other hand, the Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) event at the Caribe Royal Orlando in Orlando, Florida, came out with exciting results. The headline fight between Ashton ‘H2O’ Sylve and Estivan Falcao turned out to be what everyone expected. Sylve, reportedly the nephew of rap legend Snoop Dogg, won his eleventh professional bout unanimously. Perhaps another victory and fans might find him in the lightweight rankings.

But probably the story that has been making the rounds is that of Julian Smith‘s victory over and till then unbeaten Orestes Velazquez. Smith, a legally deaf boxer, knocked down Velazquez at least four times until the latter’s corner threw in the towel in the ninth round.

Thus, after a memorable night in Florida, ‘The Problem Child’s confidence stays high. Over to San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he expects to stop Ryan Bourland in a similar fashion as he did Andre August on December 15 last year. Fans are also eagerly waiting.
