The 5v5 boxing matchup between the Matchroom Promotions and Queensbury Promotions boxers is just a month away now. In this anticipated event, Deontay Wilder is going to face Zhilei Zhang on June 1st in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, HE Turki Alalshikh is already planning bigger things for ‘The Bronze Bomber’ after this bout.

And not only for Wilder, but even Jared Anderson has been getting the attention of the authorities. So, Alalshikh has talked about how he wants to see Anderson get up on the scoresheet and take on Wilder, only if he’s ready to do it in August after his clash against Zhang. Anderson has given his two cents on this surprising announcement.

Promoter Turki Alalshikh has announced plans for a fight between Deontay Wilder, the ‘Bronze Bomber’, and undefeated prospect Jared Anderson. The targeted date for this bout is August 3rd, part of the Riyadh Season card in Los Angeles. However, there’s a slight caveat: the fight hinges on Anderson’s readiness following his June 1st clash with Zhilei Zhang.

Alalshikh is clearly a big believer in Anderson’s potential. “Jared Anderson is with us now on August 3rd Riyadh Season card at LA against the “Bronze Bomber” Deontay Wilder–if he’s ready by then to fight after 1st of June’s fight against Zhilei Zhang. Happy to collaborate with Top Rank again–Riyadh Season card 3rd of August in LA, will be one for the history!” He declared, highlighting Anderson’s promising future.

He even offered some words of encouragement to the young fighter: “Focus on your future, training, and commitment and you will reach your goals.” Anderson himself kept his response short and sweet: “FRONT LINE SOLDIER,” suggesting he’s ready to step into the ring against the legendary Wilder.

If this fight comes to fruition, it would be a major test for Anderson. Wilder, despite recent setbacks, remains a dangerous knockout artist. A victory over Wilder would propel Anderson towards heavyweight stardom. However, Eddie Hearn wishes for another mega-fight than this, and it involves Anthony Joshua.

Eddie Hearn talks up Joshua-Wilder again

Anthony Joshua’s path to a heavyweight title shot has taken a detour. Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn, in an interview with Boxing Social, revealed that the allure of a potential fight with Deontay Wilder could put Joshua’s title challenge on hold. Hearn acknowledged the upcoming fight schedule that’s clouding the picture. “There’s a lot going on,” he admitted. He mentioned the locked-in August 3rd Riyadh Season card in LA and the possibility of a September Wembley fight in London.

Two major factors are influencing Joshua’s next move: the IBF title situation and the ever-present Wilder factor. “The IBF title could potentially free up, and then there’s the massive Wilder fight,” Hearn explained. Wilder’s victory over Zhang, which Hearn predicts, would reignite talks of a Joshua-Wilder showdown. “Everyone’s gonna be clamoring for Joshua-Wilder again,” Hearn said. “It’s a fight everyone, including AJ himself, wants.”

While Joshua would love another shot at a heavyweight title, the immediate future seems more focused on potential blockbuster fights. “Nothing is locked in yet,” Hearn concluded. “We’ll see what happens on May 18th and June 1st,” referring to the upcoming Fury-Usyk and Hrgovic-Dubois fights. So, Hearn is waiting for the heavyweight division to turn the top sides, and capitalize it further to get bigger fights. What are your thoughts about this? Tell us in the comments section.
