After his devastating loss to Ryan Garcia in December last year, Oscar Duarte found redemption through a ninth-round KO victory against Joseph “JoJo” Diaz at the Save Mart Arena in Fresno, California. This win helped reestablish his career as he was able to put down a former world champion and a 2012 U.S. Olympian. However, following the recent defeat, boxing enthusiasts are expressing concern for Joseph Diaz’s future, suggesting it could be a very significant setback for his career. The concerns aren’t completely misplaced either, since JoJo has lost 4 of his last 5 bouts.

It’s safe to say that Joseph Diaz didn’t appreciate such comments and instantly slammed one of the biggest boxing reporters in the world who tried to insinuate the same. In his response, Diaz showed some self-confidence and also mentioned the turmoil boxers have to go through with every single fight in their career. So what did he exactly say?

Renowned boxing reporter Dan Rafael, after Saturday’s loss against Oscar Duarte, spoke about how Joseph Diaz has only a few options left, and his career seems to be in jeopardy at the moment. In a cutting commentary on the former super featherweight champion’s career, Rafael wrote on X, “JoJo Diaz said in his post-fight interview “I’ll be back.” Not sure what there is for him at this point. Can’t make 135, outclassed by Duarte at 138, no future at 140.

These remarks caught the attention of the boxer and he instantly responded. He wrote, “The LORD WILL PROVIDE AND GIVE ME A WAY. I pray on your soul. God bless you. I hope you get all that processed food out you system to help you understand what fighters go through… no amateur experience prolly not even no sporting experience jus a finger licking typewriter.” Diaz showcased that he’ll find a way out, and nothing can demoralize him to leave the sport.

Despite a disappointing loss to Oscar Duarte, Joseph Diaz addressed his fans in a heartfelt and inspiring message. “First off, I want to apologize,” Diaz began, acknowledging the defeat. He expressed his belief that the fight was close and questioned the referee’s stoppage. However, Diaz quickly shifted the focus to the positive aspects of his life.

I’m thankful, man,” he declared. He spoke of his blessings – his children, his health, and his newfound sobriety. Diaz contrasted this with his past tendency to use alcohol to cope with losses. “But man, I got the power of God in me right now,” he proclaimed. Diaz emphasized his desire to be a positive influence, both for himself and his supporters. He vowed to continue following his faith and working hard in the gym.
