Manny Pacquiao takes on Yordenis Ugas tonight in what might be his last fight. A lot has been made of what would be next for ‘PacMan’. The former eight-division world champion has achieved almost everything in the sport. ‘PacMan’ also has political ambitions that take a lot of time away from the sport.
Therefore, it was only for fans and pundits to wonder who could be next for Pacquiao, Josh Taylor, being one of the front runners.
However, in the buildup to the fight, Freddie Roach was dismissive of a fight between the two. When asked if Taylor might be next for Pacquiao, Roach said, “Who is Josh Taylor? We have never been offered this fight, no one has ever talked about this fight. It’s not something that exists.”

Needless to say, Taylor found the comments made by Roach extremely disrespectful and made it a point to hit back at him. Taylor said in a tweet, “Absolutely no need for the disrespect from Freddie roach, he knows fine well who I am. I have beaten him in the opposite and beat two of his former fighters after all. W*** stain!”

Freddie Roach is no stranger to Josh Taylor. The legendary coach prepared Ivan Baranchyk for a fight against Taylor in 2019. Taylor beat Baranchyk on points to secure the IBF world title.
Not many people in the sport of boxing get to face their idols inside the ring. Hence, to have the chance to share a ring with Pacquiao is not something Taylor would pass up. The undisputed champion will fight later this year in a homecoming bout against Jack Catterall. A win over Catterall could possibly help him set up a fight with his idol.
