This weekend, Josh Taylor and Jose Ramirez will box for the undisputed super-lightweight title in a 12-round showdown. This bout, which will be one of the biggest battles at this weight class, has garnered substantial attention. Now, fans will keep their fingers crossed that it lives up to the hype.

Until now, the pair have fared exuberantly well in all of their fights. That said, both Taylor and Ramirez will walk into this fight with an immaculate track record.

In his last fight, the Scottish boxer, Taylor, defended his WBA and IBF super-lightweight titles against Apinun Khongsong with a round 1 KO. This was one of his most special wins, wherein ‘The Tartan Tornado’ didn’t have to find an extra gear.

On the flip side, Jose Ramirez, too, has enjoyed a significant run in the 140-pound roster until now. In his previous outing in August 2020, ‘Jaguar’ went all out against the resilient Viktor Postol. In this bout, he claimed a hard-fought MD win to make himself viable for an undisputed collision with Josh Taylor.

Both Taylor and Ramirez have proven their worth against some of the biggest opponents. However, only one of them can rule the division.

Josh Taylor vs Jose Ramirez – fight analysis

Both the pugilists stand at 5’10” tall. However, Ramirez, who has a 72″ reach, holds a 2.5″reach advantage over Taylor’s reach of 69½”. Consequently, Taylor, who boasts an offensive style of fighting, will have to be cautious while trying to break into range to connect with Ramirez.

‘The Tartan Tornado’ will back his offensive boxing style despite the reach disadvantage as he holds a 76.47% KO ratio. This is way more than that of Ramirez’s 65.38%.

‘Jaguar’ will have to use his reach advantage and land constant jabs. Simultaneously, he will have to dodge the heat coming off Taylor’s hands.

If he takes it to the final bell, he can claim a decision win over a fatigued Taylor. However, we don’t see the latter scenario unfolding.
