Joshua Promoter Discards Deontay Wilder as Top Heavyweight: ‘He Doesn’t Have the Resume’

Deontay Wilder hasn’t made it to the list of top-heavyweights for Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn. Despite him attaining a stellar run of 42-1-1 with 41 KOs included, the British camp doesn’t acknowledge Wilder’s achievements.
Hearn, who dived into the debate of who is the best heavyweight of the era, didn’t credit Deontay Wilder as a legitimate contender.
In a chat with IFL TV, Eddie Hearn said, “Other than Ortiz, which isn’t even a standout win in my opinion, who has Wilder ever beaten? You can’t put Wilder in bracket of Fury, Usyk, AJ, Whyte. You can’t. He doesn’t have the résumé.” (H/T:- Michael Benson)

Former WBC champion Deontay Wilder is clearly in a rough phase in his career. A stunning TKO loss against Fury snatched away his aura. However, a trilogy fight on October 9 can be a way to regain all his lost stardom.
If he wins the showdown against Tyson Fury, it will be the biggest win and a proper resurrection of his career. Besides, it will also prevent his doubters from throwing dirt on his name.

As for now, Wilder appears unbothered about all the talking and is solely focused on his return. Hence, there’s no way any of the criticism is going to affect him, at least at this stage.
Can Deontay Wilder bounce back to the top?
Beating down Tyson Fury will clearly be the biggest achievement for any heavyweight boxer in this era. Given his punch in round 12 of their 2018 clash, Wilder has all the weapons to land a massive upset at the T-Mobile Arena.
