Laila Amaria Ali, more popularly Laila Ali, is the eighth child of arguably the greatest boxer of all time, Muhammad Ali. Her parents’ lifestyle and eventual separation had an impact on her childhood. However, she turned the tables through sheer grit and determination and became a professional boxer in 1999. For nearly a decade, she dominated the women’s Middleweight division and retired as the WBC and WIBA Super Middleweight champion in 2007. She remained undefeated. Post-retirement, with equal gusto, she embarked on a career in entertainment and entrepreneurship.
She is very popular and active on social media. More often than not, Laila Ali shares the latest news and updates from the world of boxing through Instagram. Additionally, rundowns on anything newsworthy or exciting reach her million-plus fans. A few days ago, she shared a video explaining why healthy eating is critical. She went on to elaborate on the kinds of food people should stay away from.

According to the person in the clip, “When the plant-based meat movement started, I kind of thought to myself, this will never take off; this is crazy; who’s going to eat plants that are made into meat? Which got me thinking that the food industry is ready for another change; they’re finally ready for meat-based plants; we’re going to take this bison and turn it into a carrot…”
The reaction video was simply too much for @monicasopenhouse, aka Monica Turner, who describes herself as “A Wife & Mom AKA: ‘The Magic Water Lady!”
A meaty fightback!
The post had Laila Ali fall down laughing. A meat-based vegetable is sure to flummox many a viewer. However, plant-based meat has been around for some time.
From time immemorial, meat has been the primary source of protein for human beings. But, the equation changed, especially during the last few decades. Amidst the calls for change in food habits and the vegan movement, attempts to find alternatives to meat found increasing support. One of the alternatives found to wean people from actual meat led to the preparation of eatables prepared with plant products that mimic the original.

It remains to be seen whether the meat-based carrot preparation, now available on YouTube, is making light of an increasingly vocal as well as popular vegan moment finding widespread acceptance across the globe or a genuine attempt at evolving choices.
