“Looks Like He Seen a Ghost”: Floyd Mayweather’s Last Words to Gervonta Davis Before Ryan Garcia Fight Gives Fans ‘Chills’

Though it’s been over two weeks since the big match between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia got over, snippets and anecdotes from the fights still float around. A short video of pre-battle nerves and words of motivation has already garnered over two hundred comments and nearly 7k likes. It showed Davis’ former promoter and mentor, Floyd Mayweather Jr, having a few words with him to pump him up before the fight.

On April 22, the much-hyped bout between the two concluded at the T Mobile Arena with a knockout victory for the twenty-eight-year-old Davis. This win has established him, arguably as the face of boxing. Over the loud noise, the former world champion could be overheard saying, “We built for this. I’ve been here a thousand times. It’s your time.” The moving gesture resonated with most of the fans. Some of them shared their opinions immediately.

One User highlighted how Gervonta Davis stood calm and composed compared to Ryan Garcia, “Look at how calm Tank looks compared to Ryan. Tank looks like it’s just another day, while Ryan looks like he [has] seen a ghost.“

The following user, too, felt likewise and said that it was clear that Garcia wasn’t prepared for the bout. He said, “Ryan looked so scared he [wasn’t] ready lol.“

Another user admired Mayweather Jr. for standing by his protege’s side. It immensely helped Davis to fight in the way he wanted. “Gotta give Mayweather [many] props for showing up for Tank. That’s what you call REAL LOYALTY. They locked in on the moment Together so Tank could do what we all know he can do, which is DOMINATE/DESTROY/WIN. Tank is the BE$T and UNDEFEATED because he is the BE$T.” Ray said.

According to the following user, ‘Tank’s’ cold demeanor and calm ability to knock out his opponents repeatedly is fantastic. He remains unbeaten, and bets  against him are out of the question, “The calmness on Tank’s face and his consistency to KO these guys is extremely entertaining. He beats everyone until his 1st loss. We can’t go against or bet against him.“

Finally, another user described the thrill of watching Mayweather Jr. speaking to Davis and how the latter inferred what he was supposed to do later. He said, “Dude that gave me chills. He just looked into his eyes and understood the assignment.“

‘Tank’ Davis was the clear favorite to win the fight right from the beginning. Many biggies, including Mike Tyson, had predicted the match’s outcome. He outclassed a heavyweight name such as Ryan Garcia. Hence it remains to be seen what would be Davis’s next move. Already voices for a fight with Devin Haney or Shakur Stevenson are becoming loud.
