Time and again, despite several call-outs from Jaron Ennis, Terence Crawford has seemingly shown little interest in their fight. So should Ennis continue to look for that ‘big match’? No, that’s the latest prompt from an experienced hand.

Despite remaining in the same division for years, Terence Crawford and Jaron Ennis’ paths surprisingly never crossed. Both eventually carved their own career trajectories. ‘Bud’ became an undisputed champion for the second time. Ennis, though a world champion, has yet to make a mark in the big game. One of the alternates he could consider might be a fight with ‘Bud’. But given how much time has flown, will that be a wise decision? A former world champion thinks otherwise.

But then what should Jaron Ennis do if Crawford doesn’t appear too keen on a fight for the time being? Well, it’s high time he carve out his own legacy and gradually make it to the top, suggested former two-division champion Timothy ‘Tim’ Bradley. Speaking with Fight Hub TV, the 2023 International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee said, “It’s not fair, but that’s the game, bro, cuz trust me, this game is more business than sport.

Then he further elaborated that the first step ‘Boots’ has to take is to capitalize on the opportunities in hand. Jaron Ennis should fight boxers who are willing and then try to build his resources and not worry about what the other guys are getting, advised Bradley.

You look to maximize your money and fight somebody that’s willing to step in the ring with you. Maximize what you get; don’t worry about what the other guy is getting, just to get active,” said the ‘Desert Storm’. This way, he will remain active. Otherwise, as it’s happening now, he might fade away from public memory, Bradley shared. “He’s getting forgotten, just chasing. Why is he chasing Crawford?” he asked.

Then, further advising, Tim Bradley mentioned that he should not go after the money. Instead, he should carve out a reputation for himself. “Don’t chase the bag. Make yourself a name, make a name for yourself, you know,” he said.

Bradley then finally highlighted how Jaron Ennis’s idea of attacking the person sitting at the summit straightaway may not work. Most important of all, the fact remains that Terence Crawford is now at an altogether different level!

There’s still time for greater things

The nearest Jaron Ennis came to Terence Crawford was when the former became the Nebraskan’s mandatory challenger. However, as it happened, ‘Bud’ preferred fighting Errol Spence Jr. to warding off the ‘Boots’ challenge. Eventually, he paid the price for his decision by relinquishing his IBF to Ennis. Last year, while speaking in a podcast, ‘Bud’, then eyeing a big with either Jermell Charlo or Canelo Alvarez made it clear that a fight with Ennis doesn’t make any sense for the time being.
