Shakur Stevenson‘s fight is done and dusted. Ryan Garcia‘s still away by a few days. However, more than the bout that’s over and the one that’s yet to come, it’s the Twitter battle between the two that’s been making inroads into headlines. The back-and-forth slanging duel of the most promising and well-known names in current boxing seems to have gotten even lay followers hooked on to social media posts.

No surprises, observations, or comments on their public spat would be aplenty. New York State Hall of Fame inductee, International Hall of Fame elector, and well-known boxing matchmaker Rick Glaser probably didn’t want to miss a chance. He joined in with his set of observations. He postulated that Twitter is obviously a better arena for fighting than the ring for Garcia. On the other hand, Stevenson is far more thrilling when fighting on Twitter than what he does inside the ring.

Leave the glove and take up the keyboards

It didn’t take much time for some of the followers to post their viewpoints. There were obvious favorites between the two boxers. Then there was also a callout to get them into a real fight and settle all issues.

Getting straight to the matter, the following user called out for bringing on the battle!

Given a choice, the following fan would go for Ryan Garcia rather than Stevenson’s since it is more thrilling. No one in his house is awake when the latter’s fight comes up.

But the next user differed. They found it entertaining to watch Shakur Stevenson. Despite being hurt, Shakur Stevenson deftly handled Edwin De Los Santos. He came with only one goal, which was to win, and he achieved it. Compared to Gervonta Davis versus Isaac Cruz, this fight was much better, the user commented.

Agreeing with Glaser, the following fan emphasized that Ryan Garcia should focus on his defense more. Shakur Stevenson should quit dodging and start throwing power punches instead of feints.

Given the back and forth going on between the duo, this follower simply called it the ‘Twitter Championship of the World.

Along with many others, such as Oscar De La Hoya, Devin Haney, and Rolando Romero, Ryan Garcia also slammed the fight between Shakur Stevenson and Edwin De Los Santos.

Battle-lines drawn

After the fight, Garcia said that he would have fallen asleep if he had gone to the fight and demanded his money back. Further on Fight Hub TV, he shared a few incidents from the duo’s amateur days and panned Stevenson for being arrogant. It was enough to invite a riposte from the Newark-born southpaw, who wrote that he was just being true to himself. More so, while he went to win a fight on a fight day, Garcia could barely withstand a body shot and get up.

The latter shot back with the kind of money he made vis-à-vis what Stevenson did in the fight. Early today, the new WBC Lightweight champion emphasized that he was a three-division champion. A feat the Californian has to achieve. As far as boxing was concerned, he was at a level Garcia could only dream of reaching. Fans eagerly await ‘KingRy’s response.
