On the 1st of this month, the world lost a glorious name. Carl Weathers, once an NFL player and then a global movie actor, renowned for his role in the “Rocky” series, passed away at the age of 76. Days later, homages continue to pour in. Today’s legacy actor, Michael B. Jordan, shared one of his own.
In a statement from his family, Weathers was remembered as an “exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life.” The actor’s significance in boxing comes after his iconic role as Apollo Creed in “Rocky.” In his tribute to the later actor, Creed III-actor, Michael B. Jordan roped in an infamous scene from the Academy Award-winning film series.

On his Instagram stories, the 36-year-old actor posted an iconic snippet, a reel initially shared by ‘mentality’, from the movie ‘Rocky III’. In it, Apollo Creed fights a gassed Rocky, played by Sylvester Stallone, in a sparring session before his bout against Clubber Lang. An edited version of the scene was shared in an Instagram page’s reel section, followed by a montage of his other iconic scenes.
Right after Weather’s passing was announced to the world, Jordan chimed in with his timely kind words for the departed actor. Sharing an image of Weathers on his Instagram stories, he wrote, “We lost a legend.”

Sylvester Stallone, his co-star and the leading man in the “Rocky” series, noted, “I’m just trying to hold it in because Carl Weathers was such an integral part of my life, my success, everything about it.” Adam Sandler, his co-star from “Happy Gilmour” called him “the true legend,” and a “great athlete.” He wrote, “A true great man. Great dad. Great actor… So much fun to be around always. Smart as hell. Loyal as hell. Funny as hell. Loved his sons more than anything. What a guy!! Everyone loved him.”

Schwarzenegger also wrote on X, “Carl Weathers will always be a legend. An extraordinary athlete, a fantastic actor, and a great person. We couldn’t have made Predator without him. And we certainly wouldn’t have had such a wonderful time making it.”
Recently, Carl Weathers had worked on several esteemed projects as an actor and a director. He secured an Emmy nomination in 2021 for the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” where he portrayed the character Greef Karga.
